would it be worth joining ascap when based in the uk instead of prs. The only reason is because their writers and publisher account are both free when you sign up for both for the first time instead of the £30 or £100 for prs?
Do i need to register with all the PROs in different countries to collect my performance royalties from every country since BMI or Ascap only collects the US?
Hi their good video, im a little stuck on this, if prs distribute revenue to the performer, so what if its your song your performing live and you log it do you get revenue from performing your own songs or is it just when other people perform your songs, thanks in advance
Stay away from Bmi if you don't want to waste time, energy and money. They are awful and unprofessional. My music, it's been played in theaters, commercials, movies, and I haven't gotten a dollar from royalties. The highlight is I've been asking them, for three years, to delete my account and they don't. They tell me I need to email a specific date and when I do they don't reply and after days they tell me that the date has passed. I could write a lot more and the truth is that I'm sorry to get into this process, but if I manage to save even one composer or songwriter, then it was worth it. Always with respect to artists!
Hey, thanks for the time spent in putting together this video. I got a quick question if you dont mind. (I'm from the UK) If i'm signed up on PRS, PPL and have a publishing administrator, do i need to still join any of these American PRO's e.g. BMI or ASCAP to collect royalties that may have not been collected from the US? Or does the PRS, PPL and publishing admin cover everything i need to make sure all royalties are collected (apart from the ones from the distributor ofc)?
I’ve done so much research and it’s extremely complicated and if you have no support / backing that you trust and is knowledgeable then there seems no point
Wow seems like a small fish like me will be paying out to all these corporate companies and not taking a penny . I joined CD baby for distribution but not made 1 cent after over a year of ME promoting my material . That cost £25 to see no return . If I now join JUST the PRS ALONE that will cost me another £150 and who’s to say they too are not doing their job

Maybe the best explanation of this industry that I've seen – more artists need to see this – thank you!
